It is 14k gold but they didn't really know much about it other than they thought that it looks like a style from the 60s/70s. It is not marked 14k inside but it is stamped with a copyright symbol followed by A/C. Any idea where is was made or who made it?

G'day Judy and many thanks for your query.

The best advice I can give is to get it appraised. That is the only way you are going to know a value.

BUT...

Value depends on who is asking and what it is for.

Value on the open secondhand market is different to new items in a store OR different to Insurance replacement - which is what an appraisal is for.

This site has hundreds of Case studies and articles and also has an online valuation system but you have to be a member to use them (worth every penny if you ask me) so all ...

My name is judy and i have a men's 14kt white gold link bracelet and i want to know if its valuable or not. I've gone online and checked what usual prices are for one of these and the range is so broad ($250 to $1500), I can't tell where my bracelet may fit. It is between 7 to 8 inches long and has the manufacturing name "tecnigold" imprinted on it. I looked the company up and they are based in Italy and just opened a store in New York but their site doesn't really give any pricing ...

Hi Siraj,

I read your blog and just want to say "hang in there".
In the scheme of things, one year for your apprenticeship is not a long time and in years to come you will be able to look back and appreciate the effort you put in.

There is nothing like being able to create something of beauty. It is not only a rewarding career but good for the human spirit.
Don't give up.

Hey Maureen - this is Chris...

When you say you can't afford it?

You shouldn't have to pay - the jeweler who hires you will pay all expenses, although you might have to cough up for test books and the like.

But you should get paid as an apprentice anyway.

I don't know what country you are in (they are all different) but I suggest a simple "Walk in the Door" exercise will throw up a couple of results.

Check the local paper and walk the local Malls. Simply ask - that's the best way.

Incidentally - that's how I found my apprenticeship ;-)
